Description
Sony FE 50-150mm f/2 GM Lens (Sony E) In Kenya
Sony FE 50-150mm f/2 GM Lens (Sony E) Price in Kenya is at Ksh435,000.
The Sony FE 50-150mm f/2 GM is a groundbreaking, ultra-fast telephoto zoom lens engineered for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Distinctive as the world’s first telephoto zoom to combine a versatile 50-150mm focal range with a constant, bright f/2 maximum aperture, this lens is designed to serve as a high-performance single-lens replacement for multiple fast prime lenses. Its optical layout consists of 19 elements in 17 groups, including premium Extreme Aspherical, Super ED, and ED elements that maximize edge-to-edge sharpness while minimizing chromatic aberrations. It relies on four advanced XD Linear Motors to deliver rapid, silent autofocus capable of keeping pace with continuous shooting speeds up to 120 frames per second, making it an exceptional tool for sports, events, and portrait photography.
Physically, the lens weighs approximately 1,340 grams, measures 200 mm in length, and utilizes a large 95mm front filter thread. It features a robust, fully weather-sealed construction with an internal zoom and focus mechanism, ensuring the lens barrel never extends during use. While it lacks built-in optical image stabilization and relies entirely on camera body stabilization, it offers an array of professional tactile controls. The barrel is equipped with a dedicated physical aperture ring with a click toggle switch for silent iris pulls, an iris lock, an AF/MF switch, and three customizable focus hold buttons. Film creators will find it highly optimized due to its linear manual focus response and heavily suppressed focus breathing.
In terms of performance, the f/2 aperture provides a full stop more light gathering capability than traditional f/2.8 workhorse lenses, yielding dramatic background separation, excellent low-light performance, and a striking three-dimensional pop. The lens remains exceptionally sharp wide open across the focal range, though extreme close-up performance at f/2 can occasionally show a soft, ghostly contrast. Stopping the lens down slightly resolves this characteristic for detailed macro work. Overall, this lens represents an ambitious blend of prime-lens optical speed and zoom flexibility, tailored specifically for demanding professional environments.
